Job description

Position:                     Cafeteria Worker - Full-Time

Location:                    Sussex Technical High School 

Reports To:                Cafeteria Manager

Starting Date:            August 2026

Qualifications: 

  • High school education or equivalent.
  • Experience in preparation and serving of food in a food service situation preferred.
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 50 (fifty) pounds without difficulty.
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • ServSafe certification preferred. 

Performance Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with a team of cafeteria workers to serve breakfast and lunch to high school students on a daily basis.   
  • Maintain a clean and orderly environment to ensure food safety and proper hygiene.
  • Adhere to all rules and regulations as deemed by state and local policies.   
  • Complete all tasks required to prepare, serve, and store food items.       
  • Clean on a daily basis all kitchen, storage, and cafeteria areas.       
  • Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the administration and/or Board of Education deem appropriate and acceptable.

Terms of Employment:  Full-time employment - 178 days/year - 7 hours/day

Salary and Benefits: Salary commensurate with experience according to state and local salary schedules.   Benefit eligible position.  Continued education classes increase hourly pay.   

Salary Range: $18.90/hour - $23.43/hour
