Job description

Description
The College of Literature, Science, and the Arts, and the Department of Asian Languages and Cultures (ALC) at the University of Michigan, invite applications for a LEO Lecturer I - Hindi Language for the Fall 2026 Term. The successful candidate will teach Hindi language courses at any assigned level. This appointment is scheduled to begin on August 24, 2026.
Terms and conditions for this position are subject to the provisions of a Collective Bargaining Agreement between the University of Michigan and the Lecturers' Employee Organization.
Qualifications
Applicants should have a Master's degree in a relevant field such as the following: language pedagogy (in Hindi language preferred), second language acquisition, or linguistics. Native or near-native proficiency in Hindi and English is required.
At least one year of experience teaching Hindi independently or worked as a teaching assistant at the college/university level in the US is preferred. Preference will be given to candidates who are familiar with contemporary second language teaching methodologies, instructional technologies, heritage/non-heritage teaching, curriculum development, and have typing skills in Hindi.

You will also have the option to upload self-developed teaching materials (such as a syllabus, a classroom activity, a quiz and an exam), evidence of teaching excellence, and to provide a link to a teaching demonstration video.
