Job description

Optim Medical Center - Screven is seeking a PRN/Flex Shift Medical Laboratory Technician for our Sylvania, GA location.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

  • Performing phlebotomy and preparing specimen for in-house and reference lab testing.
  • Performs technical lab functions including operating automated chemistry, hematology, immunology, and urinalysis instruments under the supervision of the Medical Technologist.
  • Performs manual tests in accordance with detailed instructions.
  • Verifies quality control according to laboratory protocol and is accurate in record keeping.
  • Reports test results following clinical protocols under supervision of Medical Technologist, alerting physicians or nurses immediately of critical and abnormal results.
  • Assists Medical Technologist with maintaining instruments, equipment and inventory of supplies.
  • Complies with all quality assurance policies and Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations related to safety, cleanliness, and infection control.
  • Operate effectively in LIS and office EMR computer systems.
  • Duties may vary as need arises.

Required skills:

  • Good analytical judgment and the ability to work under pressure
  • Manual dexterity and normal color vision
  • Integrated computer systems experience

Education and Training

  • Associate degree or certificate from accredited Medical Laboratory Technician program
  • Current AMT or ASCP license/registry (or equivalent) required
  • 2 years lab experience, preferably in clinical office lab
