Overview
June 3rd - August 16th | Monday - Friday (40 hours per week)
The Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association (WFAA)* is hiring a group of innovative and collaborative individuals for our PAID, 11-week 2024 Summer Experiential Internship (SEI) program. This is a hybrid position that will require you to work in the office at least 2 days per week. The SEI seeks to increase and diversify the number of professionals in educational advancement. Our internship is designed to attract students who may not have previously considered a career in advancement.
SEI Program:
During your time at WFAA, you'll be doing work that will heavily impact our organization. You'll be exposed to multiple functions of advancement and experience working in a professional setting. While interns are assigned to specific areas, you will work on projects together, meet throughout the week for activities, and learn about areas at WFAA outside of your assigned position. Responsibilities
Here are the internship opportunities available for WFAA's 2024 SEI Program:
Enrichment Program and Alumni Awards Intern:
  • Ho-Chunk Boat Tours: Assist with developing, planning, and piloting a new program to be offered to WAA members starting this summer.
  • Alumni Awards: Research and interview peer institutions surrounding their best practices around Award Recipient stewardship post award presentation.

Engagement Operations Intern:
  • Create a one-stop-shop event resource guide on our WFAA's internal employee website, Connect.
  • Help gather, document, and update event logistic information in our event summary.
  • Working day-of and onsite during events.
  • Learning and working with the events team post-event to analyze with our program team how we can make the event better in the future.
  • Researching and sharing industry trends.
  • Learn how to create an engaging and impactful events.
  • Learn the importance of branding throughout the whole lifecycle of an event.
  • Brainstorm marketing/branding ideas for future events.

Advancement Programs, Pipeline & Identification Program Intern:
  • Peer institution benchmarking research on pipeline & identification programs. SWOT of current program offerings at WFAA in Pipeline and Identification programs, reading reports and using data-viz best practices to highlight research findings and recommendations.
  • Grandparents University (GPU) Counselor - Be a part of the GPU team and manage event preparations leading up to GPU.

Social Media Intern:
  • Strategize, develop and execute concepts and plans for digital content.
  • Create meaningful storytelling and curate digital content including writing, digital photography and video.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to design and develop content based on marketing objectives and strategic communications priorities.
  • Transform content created for print medium to be well-formatted for and successful in digital channels.
  • Deploy content to a strategic mix of social media channels, leveraging the unique aspects of each channel.
  • Work on summer WFAA initiatives, including 175th anniversary state tour and a re-vamp of the WAA YouTube channel

Finance Intern:
  • Work on the Fund Administration and Compliance Analyst (FACT) team. The mission of the FACT team is to ensure the integrity of all donor funds and to serve as a central resource for our stakeholders. You will have the opportunity to work with in our newly implemented salesforce database and enter fund information. In addition, have an opportunity to work on other finance related projects.

Human Resources (HR) Intern:
  • Work on a variety of HR projects including new employee onboarding experience, learning management system, employee handbook revisions, and update job descriptions library.

  • Currently enrolled in post-secondary degree program.
  • Commit to a June 3, 2024 - August 16, 2024 internship timeframe
  • Ability to work full-time (40 hours per week) during the summer internship
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.)
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills, interpersonal skills, and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to building and supporting an inclusive work environment.
