Hamilton Company is offering an internship opportunity to Accounting & Finance students to work hands on at a global biotechnology and robotics company with advanced in-house manufacturing, research and development, and laboratory sciences located in Reno, NV.

The Accounting & Finance intern will have the opportunity to work alongside experienced professionals in multi-functional areas of Hamilton’s Finance Department. The experience includes a rotation where they will work in each of the following units: Cost Accounting, General Ledger Accounting, Tax, Financial Planning and Analysis, and Audit. Duties include:

Cost Accounting

  • Review purchase requests for accurate coding and valuation.
  • Review new part setups in ERP system.
  • Calculate and review transfer pricing for intercompany transactions.
  • Other duties as assigned.

General Ledger Accounting

  • Participate in Month End close preparing and presenting journal entries.
  • Balance sheet account reconciliations.
  • Discover, investigate, and correct errors in account postings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Tax

  • Prepare workpapers and journal entries.
  • Research tax issues and communicate findings to management.
  • Aid indirect tax process.
  • Document Management.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Financial Planning & Analysis

  • Review and analysis of budget variances.
  • Report development through Power BI.
  • Maintaining periodic forecasts.
  • Financial statement analysis.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Audit

  • Internal controls testing and review.
  • Functional audit of a major business process.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to work and communicate professionally by phone, email, and in-person.
  • Ability to demonstrate strong discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Detail-oriented, driven, efficient, and organized.
  • Skilled at follow-up and follow-through.
  • Ability to present a professional demeanor.
  • Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).

  • Current enrollment in an Accounting, Finance, or related program at the University of Nevada, Reno required.
  • Completion of Business Core preferred.

  • This position is a part time internship, up to 20 hours a week, during the school year and up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
