Job Summary
McKee Foods Corporation is seeking two IT Asset Interns to join our IT Asset Team in Collegedale, TN. This role is focused on modernizing and standardizing our end-user computing environment. Interns will play a hands-on role in device lifecycle refresh initiatives, reducing technical debt, and supporting deployment of thin client and endpoint technologies. This work directly supports ongoing enterprise-wide refresh and modernization efforts. You will work closely with our IT Asset Technician and other interns to improve how devices are deployed, managed, and maintained across the organization. This is a project-driven role with real impact-not just ticket-based support. The ideal candidate is curious, hands-on, and motivated to learn how enterprise environments evolve from legacy systems to modern, standardized platforms. This role is best suited for individuals who enjoy hands-on technical work and problem-solving in fast-paced environments.


What You'll Accomplish this Summer

  • Contribute to active device refresh projects, helping deploy and standardize end-user systems at scale

  • Gain hands-on experience with enterprise endpoint deployment, imaging, and configuration processes

  • Help identify and reduce technical debt, improving consistency and supportability across devices

  • Support implementation of thin client and VDI solutions, gaining exposure to modern end-user computing strategies

  • Contribute to device lifecycle refresh initiatives, including replacement, imaging, deployment, and retirement of end-user devices

  • Support rollout and configuration of thin clients and virtual desktop (VDI) environments

  • Identify and help remediate technical debt across endpoint systems (outdated configurations, inconsistent builds, legacy setups)

  • Deliver, install, and configure computer systems, including operating systems, applications, an peripherals

  • Participate in and help drive endpoint standardization efforts to improve supportability and reduce total cost of ownership (TCO)

  • Assist in developing and improving deployment, imaging, and provisioning processes

  • Provide on-site technical support as needed, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and connectivity issues

  • Track, document, and analyze recurring issues to identify root causes and long-term improvements

  • Collaborate with team members on continuous improvement initiatives within IT Asset Management


Required Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a AS, BS or MS degree program in Computer science, Information Systems, or a related field

  • Strong working knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office tools

  • Customer service focused with a high level of professionalism

  • Experience supporting computer hardware and peripherals

  • Ability to clearly document procedures, problems and solutions

  • Strong problem-solving, trouble-shooting and analytical skills

  • High level of initiative, assertiveness and self-direction

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively within a team

  • Ability to perform with minimal supervision (as your skills and knowledge increase)

  • Strong desire and aptitude to learn quickly and develop new skills


Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior technical support or hardware repair/maintenance experience

  • 3.0 GPA or higher on a 4.0 scale

  • Experience supporting MS Windows 7 and Windows 10, Server 2008 R2, Server 2012 and Server 2016 and MS Office 2016

  • Development experience with modern programming languages (C#, ASP.Net, VB.NET or other languages)

  • Development experience with scripting languages (VBScript, Powershell or Ruby)
