THE POSITION

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation is excited to announce its search for enthusiastic college students to participate in the 2026 Summer Employment Program! DESCRIPTION OF WORK

During this internship, you will have the opportunity to acquire significant paraprofessional experience in various fields, including accounting, fine arts, humanities, journalism, public administration, and social sciences. This hands-on experience will not only enhance your practical skills but also provide you with a deeper understanding of the theoretical concepts that underpin these disciplines. Engaging in real-world projects and collaborating with professionals in these areas will allow you to apply your academic knowledge in a practical setting, fostering both personal and professional growth. Additionally, this internship will serve as a valuable stepping stone in your career, equipping you with the insights and competencies necessary to excel in your chosen field.

Internship opportunities associated with this posting will be for Engineering District 4 which consists of Luzerne, Pike, Lackawanna, Wyoming, Wayne, and Susquehanna Counties.
Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time internship that will run from May 2025 through August 2025
  • Work hours may vary based on position
  • Travel may be required

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Internship Requirements:
  • Must be currently enrolled or intending to enroll FULL-TIME or PART-TIME in a two-year degree, bachelor's degree, or advanced program for the fall semester.
  • Must be a Pennsylvania resident or currently enrolled at a Pennsylvania college or university.
  • In good academic standing (as defined by a GPA of 2.0 or higher)
  • Must be at least 18 years of age

Additional Requirements:
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
