Job description

We are seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join our Development Security Operations (DevSecOps) team within the Platform Engineering organization.  This team is responsible for providing Application Security (AppSec) scanning for our build pipelines, improving security for our build and deployment pipelines, ensuring safe Supply Chain deliveries, and sustaining and enhancing general DevOps workflows.

In this role, you will contribute as a full-stack developer with strong DevSecOps mindset. You will work on a diverse range of initiatives-improving build pipelines, providing a "single pane of glass" view of our security posture to our Security team, and researching new tools and processes for our environment. Your work will be foundational to securing our development infrastructure and supporting a culture of continuous improvement.

This position is ideal for engineers who are passionate about security, enjoy solving technical challenges collaboratively, and thrive in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • AppSec Development: Provide expertise in SCA (Black Duck), SAST (Checkmarx), and DAST (Acunetix) scanning, integrating scans into pipelines.  Automate feedback from scans to Security and Development teams.
  • Supply Chain Security:  Lead initiatives to improve Supply Chain security with delivery tools such as Entrust's Code Signing Gateway.
  • Modernization Projects: Contribute to the re-architecture and modernization of legacy tools using scalable, maintainable technologies focused on performance, usability, and reliability.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Partner with engineers, product managers, and other platform teams to identify pain points and deliver impactful solutions.
  • Code Quality & Best Practices: Write clean, maintainable code and contribute to code reviews, documentation, and continuous improvement of development practices.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in Software Development, Platform Engineering, or DevOps roles.
  • Technical Proficiency: Strong programming skills in at least one major language (e.g., Python, JavaScript/Node.js, ObjectScript, Go) with proficiency in both frontend and backend development.
  • Database Knowledge: Solid understanding of SQL and experience working with relational databases.
  • DevSecOps & Tooling: Experience with secure CI/CD pipeline development, and familiarity with tools such as GitLab, Perforce, Black Duck, Checkmarx, Acunetix, and Entrust.
  • Adaptability & Initiative: Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technologies, take initiative, and contribute meaningfully in a dynamic, evolving environment.
  • Collaboration & Mentorship: Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Experience mentoring junior engineers and guiding interns or small project teams.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Atlassian Tools: Experience with the Atlassian product suite, including JIRA and Confluence.
  • DevOps: Experience with Perforce and GitLab.
  • InterSystems Technologies: Experience with InterSystems IRIS and ObjectScript, or a strong interest in learning them.
  • AI: Experience working with agentic coding assistants (e.g., Claude Code, ChatGPT, Tabnine) to improve software development, infrastructure automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled developer tools, automation platforms, or infrastructure supporting AI-powered workflows.

Education and Training:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related STEM field.
