The University of South Alabama's Computer Services Center is seeking to hire a PC Applications Specialist. Interested candidates should apply to be considered.
Essential Functions
These are the job duties required of the position.
Essential Functions
  • Works in an enterprise, multi-campus environment to provide operational support for multiple University data centers and IT infrastructure.
  • Maintains operational knowledge of data center mechanical, electrical, and communication distribution systems.
  • Utilizes and maintains systems for monitoring to assist in early problem detection and resolution.
  • Assists with analysis of incoming data, alarms, and service tickets to ensure proper triage, escalation, and resolution of user or system problems.
  • Prepares after action reports for events and incidents.
  • Coordinates and performs scheduled infrastructure tests including weekly generator tests.
  • Serves as a technical point of contact, provide oversight, coordination, and assistance as needed for Computer Center staff, University personnel, and vendors for installation, maintenance, and removal of services and equipment in all data center facilities.
  • Coordinates training for Operations staff, student workers, and interns providing telephone and front desk support.
  • Researches, reviews, and processes documentation related to Computer Center procurement and vendor management.
  • Regularly reviews inventory to ensure availability for daily operation and incident response.
  • Safely moves equipment and materials weighing up to 100 lbs. and with assistance with heavier objects.
  • Works as a first responder to diagnose disruptions and take corrective action.
  • Remains on a 24-hour on-call rotation through a University provided cell phone.
  • Regular and prompt attendance.
  • Ability to work schedule as defined and overtime as required, including as essential personnel when needed.
  • Related duties as required.
