About the Role:

The Irrigator I plays an important role in supporting the efficient management and operation of irrigation systems within an agricultural setting. This position focuses on ensuring that crops receive the appropriate amount of water. This is done through the monitoring of irrigation equipment. The Irrigator I works closely with senior irrigators and growers to optimize water usage, use sustainable farming practices, and maximize crop yield. Attention to detail and a proactive approach are essential to identify and resolve issues promptly, minimizing water waste and system downtime.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Basic understanding of agricultural practice and irrigation principles
  • Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments under varying weather conditions
  • Willingness to learn and follow safety protocols related to irrigation equipment and water management

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience or internship in irrigation, agriculture, or related field
  • Knowledge of different types of crops and their water requirements
  • Familiarity with irrigation control systems
  • Experience with basic irrigation repairs
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the installation, repair, and maintenance of irrigation systems including sprinklers, drip lines, and pumps
  • Monitor and adjust water distribution to crops to ensure adequate hydration without overwatering
  • Conduct routine inspections of irrigation systems to ensure they are functioning properly and efficiently
  • Maintain inventory of supplies required for irrigation systems
  • Collaborate with other team members to ensure the success of the farm
