Role Summary

The Junior Infrastructure Design Engineer supports the research, development, and design of LAN, WAN, and Wi-Fi networks. This role works under the direction of senior engineers to assist in developing network designs, preparing documentation, and supporting cross-department collaboration. The Junior Engineer will gain exposure to the full design lifecycle while developing technical expertise in network infrastructure.


Duties & Responsibilities

  • Assist in creating data network designs for Ethernet, Fiber, and Wi-Fi networks.
  • Support MDU (Multi-Dwelling Unit) network infrastructure design development.
  • Assist with identifying network improvements and upgrades.
  • Support design, configuration, and documentation of system protocols and standards.
  • Create flowcharts and supporting documentation to identify system requirements.
  • Assist with bill of materials (BOM), scopes of work, and technical proposal documentation.
  • Collaborate with Project Coordinators, Construction Managers, Operations, and Business Development teams to ensure accurate project handoffs.
  • Provide technical support and documentation for network and DirecTV designs.
  • Participate in project meetings to ensure installations align with approved designs.
  • Support senior engineers in managing network elements (DWDM, GPON, Ethernet, and Transport) through project lifecycle.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements:

Skills & Abilities

  • Foundational knowledge of networking principles (LAN, WAN, Wi-Fi).
  • Familiarity with network design tools and engineering applications preferred.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Organized and detail-oriented with strong follow-through.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration skills.

Education & Experience

  • 1–3 years of related experience required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field preferred.
  • Relevant internships or academic project experience considered.

Physical Requirements

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
