Summary of Roles
- Funeral Director/Intern: Plan and direct funeral services, memorials, celebrations of life, and burials. Provide emotional support to families, arrange services, and ensure seamless coordination of logistics (transportation, documentation, vendor partnerships).
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver compassionate, patient, and professional service to grieving families.
- Direct or assist in funeral services, ensuring meticulous attention to detail.
- Transport deceased individuals with care and respect.
- Collaborate with clergy, cemeteries, and vendors to coordinate events.
- Handle administrative duties (death certificates, permits, digital records).
- Maintain cleanliness and readiness of facilities, equipment, and vehicles.
Qualifications
- Funeral Director: Valid WA State Funeral Director license (or reciprocal eligibility).
- Intern: Active enrollment in or completion of mortuary science program; WA internship eligibility.
- Valid driver’s license with clean record (required for all roles).
- Proficiency in computers/software (MS Office, funeral management systems).
- Professional appearance, empathetic demeanor, and strong communication skills.
Schedule & Compensation
- Schedule: Full-time, Monday-Friday, with occasional weekend availability for scheduled services.
- On-Call Rotation: Participation required for after-hours at-need families (typically 1–2 weeknights per week and 1 weekend per month).
- Pay: Competitive hourly rate, commensurate with experience and role.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift/move up to 75 lbs unassisted and 150+ lbs with team assistance.
- Prolonged standing, kneeling, and driving.
- Comfort working in cooler/embalming preparation environments.
