Job description

Program OverviewThe Oklahoma Warriors NAHL and OKC Warriors NA3HL Video Production Internship Program is designed to provide hands-on experience in live sports production and broadcast operations within a junior hockey organization. Interns will work directly with the production and media staff to support live broadcasts, in-house productions, digital media initiatives, and game day presentation throughout the hockey season.
This internship provides practical exposure to live video production, replay operations, technical directing, camera operation, graphics integration, and broadcast coordination in a fast-paced sports environment. Interns will gain valuable experience working behind the scenes and as part of the live game day production team during Oklahoma Warriors and OKC Warriors home games and special events.
Program ObjectivesProvide practical experience in live sports production and broadcast operations.

Internship Structure & Responsibilities
1. Live Broadcast Production (Primary Focus)
Director/Technical Director (TD)

  • Operate and manage video switcher systems during live broadcasts
  • Communicate effectively with camera operators and production staff
  • Coordinate camera angles, graphics, replay, audio, and video elements during games
  • Execute game rundowns while adapting to live game action and timing changes
  • Assist with technical troubleshooting and production setup as needed

Replay Operations
  • Capture and manage replay content during live broadcasts
  • Control playback for in-house and streaming productions
  • Edit and prepare highlight clips during games for on-air and digital use
  • Export highlights and promotional content following production procedures
  • Assist with postgame media archiving and content management

Camera Operations & Production Support
  • Operate cameras during live games, practices, and special events
  • Assist with setup, testing, and teardown of production equipment
  • Support graphics, audio, and production coordination during broadcasts
  • Collaborate with production staff to improve game day presentation
  • Assist with content capture for digital and social media platforms

Learning Outcomes
  • Gain hands-on experience in live sports production and broadcast operations
  • Develop technical skills using industry-standard production equipment and workflows
  • Learn the fundamentals of replay systems, directing, and live event production

Skills & Qualifications
  • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Broadcast Production, Media, Communications, Sports Media, Film, Journalism, or a related field preferred
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment
  • Willingness to learn technical production systems and workflows
  • Familiarity with Blackmagic Design switchers, Sony cameras, Windows-based systems, or live production environments is preferred but not required. Training will be provided
  • Positive, dependable, adaptable under pressure, and eager to learn
  • Passion for sports, live entertainment, and media production preferred. Knowledge of the game of hockey preferred, but not required

Internship Duration
This internship will span the full hockey season from September through April. Interns will work flexible hours based on the team schedule, including nights, weekends, and home games.
Because game nights provide the majority of hands-on learning opportunities, interns should plan to be present for most of the Oklahoma Warriors and/or OKC Warriors home games and team events throughout the season.
Multiple internship positions are available.
CompensationThis is an unpaid internship; however, college credit may be earned if applicable through the intern's academic institution.
