Job description

Pay Grade/Pay Range: Minimum: $44,200 - Midpoint: $55,300 (Salaried E6)
Department/Organization: 200631 - Orientation
Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Summary: The Orientation and Special Events Coordinator plans, implements, manages, and administers comprehensive high school on campus recruitment events which include Sibling Orientation Program, University Days, and other special events that relate to high school groups. Supports coordination of Bama Bound, UA's new student orientation. Assists with the supervision of undergraduate and graduate students. Assists with managing budgets.
Additional Department Summary: Helps coordinate communication and partnerships for Bama Bound, UA's new student orientation for all new freshmen and transfer students. Assists in the selection and supervision of the 50-60 member student support team (Avanti), directly supervises 2-3 graduate student interns through the Summer months, and assists the Associate Director in managing the office budget.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of orientation, special events, and/or enrollment management experience; OR master's degree and some orientation, special events, and/or enrollment management experience.
Skills and Knowledge: Basic desktop computing skills (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, etc.). Excellent verbal and written communication skills. An interest in working with incoming students and their families. Desire to build partnerships with on and off campus constituents. Ability to work with various groups of people. Proven leadership ability and a customer service oriented philosophy. Ability to multi-task effectively. High organization skills are required for planning purposes.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience with social media and communications coordination.
