RIVANNA is seeking a talented and motivated intern to contribute to the rapid growth of our emerging medical device company. As an Engineering Intern, you will work with a team of professionals as we strive to achieve our mission of improving global human health. This hands-on multidisciplinary role involves collaboration with our mechanical and electrical engineering team for various product development tasks and projects.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage 3D printer operation, including coordinating print requests, setting up prints, post-processing, and troubleshooting
  • Execute product and component testing, documenting results and identifying areas for improvement
  • Assist with the design, fabrication, and assembly of test fixtures and manufacturing jigs
  • Assist with assembling components according to established procedures and specifications
  • Perform soldering tasks for electromechanical assemblies
  • Attend engineering team meetings and report on project progress and completion
  • Collaborate with members of various departments to support product development and manufacturing efforts
  • Contribute to a safe and organized work environment by following established safety procedures and keeping the lab and machine shop areas clean and organized
  • Perform other job-related duties and responsibilities as assigned
Requirements:
  • Currently pursuing a degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, biomedical engineering, or a related field
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot technical challenges
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to follow detailed procedures
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative
  • Familiarity with basic hand tools, power tools, and test equipment
  • Experience with 3D printing and soldering is preferred
  • Experience with CAD (e.g., SolidWorks, Onshape, Fusion360) is preferred
  • Experience with PCB design software (e.g. Altium, EAGLE) is a plus
