Position Title: Ingredient Purchasing Intern

Reports to: Ingredient Purchasing Manager

Department: Warehouse

Classification: Seasonal, Hourly (Non-Exempt)

Pay: $23.50 – $24.25 an hour

We are seeking a detailoriented and highly organized Ingredient Purchasing Intern to support the documentation, standardization, and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures across the organization by collaborating with subject matter experts and operational teams to understand existing processes and translate them into clear, accurate, and userfriendly SOPs, while gaining handson experience in process improvement, operational excellence initiatives, realworld business workflows, technical writing, documentation management, process standardization, and exposure to quality management practices and version control systems.

This position will be primarily responsible for:

  • Observing, documenting, and analyzing operational processes and workflows to support standardization efforts.
  • Conducting interviews with team members and subject matter experts to accurately capture process details and critical responsibilities.
  • Drafting, editing, and formatting Standard Operating Procedures using a consistent, approved template.
  • Ensuring SOPs are written in clear, concise, and user-friendly language suitable for operational teams.
  • Organizing, maintaining, and uploading SOP documentation in shared systems or repositories while ensuring proper folder structure and accessibility.
  • Revising and updating SOPs based on stakeholder feedback, audits, and operational process changes.
  • Assisting with document control activities, including version control, approval routing, and audit trail maintenance.
  • Supporting continuous improvement initiatives by identifying process gaps, documentation inconsistencies, or inefficiencies.
  • Assisting the Ingredient Purchasing Manager in the implementation of new systems.
  • Running yield trials on a variety of ingredients to maximize efficiency.
  • Filling in for Efficiency Clerk position on an as needed basis.
  • Assisting with other administrative tasks as needed to support production, ingredient purchasing, and efficiency. This includes collaborating with team members and supervisors to address any operational concerns.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

        Minimum Qualifications:

        • Currently pursuing or recently completed a degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Technical Writing, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
        • Strong written communication, editing, and documentation skills.
        • Exceptional attention to detail, accuracy, and consistency in written documentation.        
        • Ability to organize complex information logically and translate it into clear, structured documentation.
        • Comfortable asking clarifying questions and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
        • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Google Docs, and related documentation tools; familiarity with shared drives or collaborative platforms preferred.

        Preferred Qualifications:

        • Experience creating process maps or workflow diagrams using Visio, Lucidchart, Miro, or similar tools.
        • Familiarity with SOP structures, quality systems, compliance documentation, or ISO-style frameworks.
        • Basic understanding of operational, technical, or warehouse processes.
        • Experience in documentation development, technical writing, quality assurance, or process improvement.

        Physical Requirements:

        Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling;   occasional stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity: 50% or more sitting, 25% or more walking, and 50% or less standing. The job is performed under  frequent temperature variations and in a cannery environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees. The ability to lift up to 40 lbs. is required.
