Job description

Quanex is looking for a Tool Maker Intern to join our team located in Sioux Falls, SD.
 
The Tool Maker Intern will gain hands-on experience in a manufacturing environment, supporting the Tool Room team in tool fabrication, repair, and continuous improvement initiatives. This internship is designed to develop future talent while providing practical exposure to tool making and production support processes.

What Success Looks Like:

  • Assist in manufacturing parts for engineering and continuous improvement projects.
  • Support production operations by helping repair and maintain tooling used in manufacturing processes.
  • Aid in basic mold manufacturing and tool room operations.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, including tool room organization and layout optimization.
  • Follow all safety protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Your Credentials

  • Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in machining, robotics, tool and die making, manufacturing technology, or a related field
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or CAD models
  • Basic understanding of measurement and metrology principles
  • Mechanical aptitude and interest in manufacturing processes
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work safely in a manufacturing environment
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills

This is a paid, full-time internship that will be paid hourly. The hourly range for this internship is $20 to $25, and the selected hourly rate will align with the intern’s academic experience.
