Job description

Labcorp is seeking a Staff Scientist to join our team at 100 Perimeter Park Drive, Morrisville, NC.

Work Schedule

Monday - Friday, day shift

Job Responsibilities

  • Design and execute experiments to develop and optimize NGS and genotyping assays (PCR, qPCR, NGS, digital PCR, etc.)
  • Analyze data and communicate results in clear, well-documented reports.
  • Author and maintain technical documentation including protocols, SOPs, study reports, and sections of regulatory documents.
  • Collaborate with bioinformatics, clinical, regulatory, QA, and project management teams to advance assays from development to product.
  • Support assay adoption and technology transfer to Labcorp clinical testing sites.
  • Plan and execute analytical validation studies in support of regulatory submissions (FDA, EU)
  • Participate in client-facing activities and contribute to business development efforts to win new work.
  • Support Quality Systems requirements as applicable (e.g., CAPA, change control, document control)
  • Coordinate work across cross-functional teams in a matrix environment.
  • Monitor developments in CDx technologies and regulatory frameworks relevant to the product roadmap.

Minimum Qualifications

  • PhD in molecular biology, genomics, genetics, bioengineering with 1 or more years working in a molecular biology environment (such as lab work, automation, or data analysis) OR Bachelor's degree with 10 or more years of working experience OR Master's with 5 or more years of working experience

Preferred Qualifications

  • 3 or more years' experience with PCR, qPCR, NGS library preparation, sequencing workflows, and/or other genotyping technologies
  • 1 or more years' experience in a regulated environment (CLIA, CAP, ISO 13485, or FDA QSR/QMSR)

  • Demonstrated ability to independently perform all elements of the job, have exceptional capabilities in own field of expertise and the potential for creativity and external collaboration.
  • Familiarity with regulatory concepts relevant to molecular diagnostics (analytical validation, 510(k), PMA, or IUO studies)
  • Proficiency in R, Python, or similar tools for data analysis and visualization
  • Strong fundamentals in molecular biology (nucleic acid extraction, QC, and quantification)
  • Comfort working with genomic data: familiarity with bioinformatics concepts, variant calling, or sequencing quality metrics.
  • Excellent organizational and documentation habits
  • Mindfulness in experimental design and execution
  • Clear scientific communication skills, both written and verbal
