Vice President, Labor & Employee Relations
A rapidly growing multi-hospital health system is seeking a Vice President of Labor & Employee Relations to lead labor strategy during an exciting period of organizational growth and transformation.
This is an opportunity to take ownership of a highly visible labor relations function, partnering directly with executive leadership while leading negotiations across a complex union environment.
What You'll Be Doing
  • Lead labor and employee relations strategy for a multi-hospital health system.
  • Serve as chief spokesperson in collective bargaining negotiations covering 10 collective bargaining agreements.
  • Prepare bargaining proposals, contract language, and negotiation strategies.
  • Take first-chair responsibility during negotiations while collaborating with outside labor counsel as needed.
  • Provide guidance on grievance administration, arbitration preparation, contract interpretation, and labor strategy.
  • Partner with operational leaders to build positive employee and union relationships while minimizing organizational risk.
What We're Looking For
  • Licensed to practice law in New Jersey, or has NY licensure and eligible for NJ.
  • Experience in labor and employee relations within healthcare or another unionized environment.
  • Someone ready to step into a larger leadership roleโ€”even candidates with somewhat junior leadership experience are encouraged to apply if they've been heavily involved in negotiations.
  • Strong drafting and writing skills with the ability to prepare bargaining proposals and contract language.
  • Confidence leading negotiations and serving as the organization's primary representative at the bargaining table.
  • A professional who enjoys the labor, employment, and litigation space and is looking to build a long-term career in this specialty.
