Job Description:

General Objectives:

Reporting to the General Manager and as a key member of the Marigold Leadership Team, the Geology Manager will have accountability to develop, manage and execute the Mine Geology and Resource development work at Marigold, Trenton Canyon and Buffalo Valley.

Key Areas of Responsibilities & Duties:

The key responsibilities of the Resource Development Manager include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Promote and ensure compliance of Marigold's safety and environmental policy
  • Ensure that the Geology/Mineral resource team and contractors are in adherence with state and federal regulations
  • Direct management of the Marigold's exploration activities and exploration team including Trenton Canyon and Buffalo Valley
  • Accountable for the designing and successfully delivering discovery focused field programs that target options for growth of Marigold existing exploration target portfolio and expansion of the current resources and reserves
  • Management and development of all in-mine, near-mine and green fields drilling programs, including planning, performance, budget, cost control, administration, logistics, and reporting
  • Establish and ensure that best practices are being employed and that technical expertise is being used effectively to meet project milestones and objectives
  • Collection and maintenance of highest quality data and constant monitoring of the data collection process to ensure it meets all required standards for reporting
  • Ensure completion of all technical work programs within approved timelines and budgets and delivery of all required information in a timely manner
  • Coaching, mentoring, and supervising a team of experienced mine and exploration geologists including field technicians
  • Management of key stakeholders including contractors and consultants
  • Debating and presenting models, targets, and results to the company executives and being able to engage with senior technical staff in the company
  • Assisting in establishing protocols and procedures for the effective and efficient running of drilling campaigns
  • Assisting in the compilation and reporting of production and exploration activities, producing technical reports, resource statements, and statutory reporting

Required Skills:

  • Proficient in the use of standard office software applications
  • Experience with Leapfrog, ArcGIS
  • Effective communication and analytical skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with results focus.
  • Ability to coach employees and develop employees
  • Ability to act in a proactive manner, to anticipate problems and to solve existing problems within the context of operational requirements.
  • Ability to listen to opinions and formulate recommendations in a confident and constructive manner.
  • The incumbent has specific responsibilities to ensure the safety of all employees and contractors working within his/her Department, and to ensure that the Department conducts its daily work in a safe manner according to the company policy.

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree qualification in Geology, Engineering, or related field
  • Tertiary qualifications in Geology with a minimum of 10 - 15 years of experience
  • Previous experience in the Carlin trend - preferred
