Overview

Looking for a fun and supportive work environment this summer?  Do you enjoy having a wide variety of tasks and being outside? Join our summer team at Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA! Located on nearly 1400 forested acres in the Town of Becket, nestled within the beautiful Berkshire Mountains of Western Massachusetts, the Becket-Chimney Corners YMCA is an independent YMCA camp which operates programs serving hundreds of campers.  Boasting over a century of tradition, our industry leading programs include the Chimney Corners Camp for girls, Camp Becket for Boys, the Travel and Service Programs (domestic and international), and Becket Day Camp.

This job announcement is not intended to be inclusive of all functions, responsibilities and qualifications associated with the position, however, representative of the essential job functions and typical criteria considered necessary to successfully perform the position.

Responsibilities
  • Clean and maintain common areas, including restrooms, dining halls, and lodging.
  • Perform custodial duties such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, trash/compost removal, and floor care tasks.
  • Maintain grounds by performing duties such as mowing and weed trimming.
  • Help maintenance technicians complete work orders and repairs in various areas such as carpentry, mechanical work, etc.
  • Maintain a positive and customer service-oriented attitude, contributing to the success of a seasonally focused operation
  • Reporting to the Assistant Property Director, work closely in collaboration with the team to ensure the property and facilities are of the safest and highest quality in support of the mission of BCCYMCA.

Hours: up to 40 hours per week and occasionally more as determined based on organizational need; onsite with flexible schedule.

Qualifications
  • Some experience in facilities maintenance and custodial services, or a related field.
  • Ability to work outside and be physically active.
  • Prefer current driver's license with clean driving record and have a reliable ability to travel to and from work.
  • Must pass background clearances and provide proof of recent medical physical & immunization records as required by MA regulations.
  • Must be willing to commit to the business needs of our operating season from June through August, including a few required weekends.
