CenTrio is seeking an experienced Utility Construction Worker to join our Seattle operations team.

This is a full-time union position offering strong benefits, stable year-round work, career growth opportunities, and exposure to CenTrio's infrastructure scope of central plants, underground distribution systems, and customer-facing systems.

What You'll Do

Under the supervision of the Distribution Department Foreman, you will be working in active city environments around underground steam systems, excavation sites, traffic, confined spaces, and heavy industrial equipment. This position supports the construction, repair, and maintenance of district energy infrastructure including underground piping systems (steam, hot water, chilled water), distribution networks connecting plants to buildings and energy transfer stations and related mechanical systems.

Candidates should be comfortable performing physically demanding labor using industrial-grade tools and equipment in active jobsite conditions.

Examples include:

  • Safely digging and trenching around underground utilities
  • Using shovels properly for excavation and backfill work
  • Operating jackhammers, tampers, compactors, cut-off saws, pole drivers, or similar heavy-duty tools
  • Working around active traffic in busy downtown or city environments
  • Performing flagging and traffic control
  • Working in trenches, vaults, confined spaces, or shored excavations
  • Handling pipe, valves, fittings, insulation, and heavy materials
  • Working outdoors in all weather conditions
  • Following strict safety procedures and PPE requirements
  • Working as part of a crew in high-risk construction environments
