Queen Anne's County Public Schools - ML Teacher Vacancy: Anticipated Openings for 2026-2027
Job Summary: Under the direction of the school principal and EL Program, plans for and provides English language development instruction for students who have been identified as eligible for EL services through the state mandated English language proficiency test (KW-APT, W-APT, access FOR ell 2.0) using WIDA Standards and CAN DO descriptors.
Qualifications:
  1. Must be a Maryland certified teacher. (ESOL)
  2. Considerable knowledge of second language teaching/learning methods and techniques.
  3. Considerable knowledge of English structure, usage and levels of style.
  4. Ability to work effectively with administrators, counselors and other school staff in organizing and implementing the EL instructional program.
  5. Fluency in another language, in addition to English, preferred.
  6. Ability to understand and support the process of adjustment to the academic and cultural environment in QACPS.
  7. Ability to determine what student assessment information is needed and how it can be collected and utilized to develop, implement, and monitor transition planning.
  8. Excellent oral and written communication and human relations skills.

Essential Functions:
  1. Maintains student records of instruction using the ML Program Binder and administers the appropriate WIDA ACCESS assessment(s) for their students. Completes all paperwork for ML and RELL, and maintains the ML file at the school, including such documents as the Home Language Survey, parental notification letters, classroom modifications and test accommodations, WIDA Screener and WIDA ACCESS assessment results, and ML Portrait with work samples.
  2. Attends and participates in ML professional development.
  3. Collaborates with administrators, counselors, teachers and other school staff about individual ML and RELL students and their current needs.
  4. Serves as a resource for information regarding students from other language backgrounds and maintains contact with parents of MLs.
  5. Ensures a successful transition for RELL students from ML supported instruction to full participation in class.
  6. Collaborates with others to develop and coordinate transition plans and activities, strengthen productive partnerships, and make linkages in the community for students who receive ML services, serves as a resource for students, parents, staff, and community, as needed.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

PAY AND HOURS:
Placement on the Queen Anne's County Teacher's Salary Schedule commensurate with certification, experience, and preparation. This is a Full-time, benefited 10-month position.
