Setting: Outpatient Urgent Care (MedExpress)

Position Overview

Covenant Medical Group, the employed physician network of Covenant HealthCare, is seeking a compassionate, high-caliber Urgent Care Physician to join our extraordinary medical team. As the largest hospital-integrated physician group in the Great Lakes Bay Region, we are a physician-driven, patient-focused organization dedicated to clinical excellence and professional fulfillment.

Due to increasing volumes and a commitment to expanding patient access, this position is a high priority for our health system. This role offers a predictable, flexible schedule, working across at least two of our five state-of-the-art urgent care clinics located throughout Saginaw County.

Schedule & Operational Details

  • Work-Life Balance: Three 12-hour shifts per week. Weekend and holiday rotations are required (typically working every 3rd weekend).

  • Patient Volume: Enjoy a manageable pace averaging 3 to 5 patients per hour.
  • Scope of Practice: See a wide and engaging pathology across all age groups, from newborns to geriatrics. Cases are low-acuity (ESI levels 4–5), focusing on acute medical illnesses and minor surgical procedures (e.g., lacerations/stitches, splinting fractures).
  • Collaborative Environment: Work alongside a skilled, autonomous team of Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, and Nurse Clinical Assistants (NCAs). Our advanced practice providers work independently "next to" our physicians rather than under direct line supervision.
  • Advanced Infrastructure: Every location features walk-in x-ray, modern labs, and a fully integrated Epic EMR system that connects seamlessly with our primary care network and emergency department.

Candidate Requirements

  • Education/Certification: Board Certified (BC) in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, or Emergency Medicine.
  • Licensure: Active Michigan Medical License (or the ability to obtain one).
  • Life Support: Current BLS and ACLS certifications.

  • Hourly Incentive Pool: Earn an extra $10.00 for every hour worked
  • Patient Satisfaction Payouts: Up to 40% of your incentive pool is tied to achieving monthly individual patient experience benchmarks, with an additional 20% tied to collective group success.

  • Dental & Vision: Fully employer-paid Delta Dental Enhanced PPO premium; comprehensive vision coverage through VSP.
