The final salary is anticipated to fall at $96,781.80 annually; however, it may be higher or lower, depending on the knowledge, skills, abilities, and other qualifications of the preferred internal candidate, while considering internal equity. If the preferred candidate's current salary exceeds the posted range, a salary analysis will be conducted based on factors such as step, the candidate's current experience, etc. No salary decrease will occur.

Work Environment:
This position is full-time, supported by state funds (contingent upon funding availability), and is eligible for a hybrid work environment.

Turn data into impact at CDE. Join our Data Warehouse team to build and enhance Informatica ETL solutions that power critical reporting and help support education across Colorado.
The Information Management Services (IMS) unit provides technology, systems and information to help fulfill the goals of CDE. IMS supports CDE and Colorado School Districts through five teams: Network/Help Desk; Applications Development; Data Services, Project Management, and Data Warehouse. This position will be within the Data Warehouse team.
This position develops, maintains, and enhances Informatica Extract, Load, and Transform (ETL) processes to load data from the Operational Data Store (ODS) and external data sources to the Data Warehouse. It also develops, maintains, and enhances Informatica ETL processes for Data Marts and file creation for federal reporting. It must follow the Software Development Life Cycle (SLDC) process. This position may perform Informatica Administration functions, including software installation, tuning, defining best practices, and troubleshooting and resolution. This position may also require primary contact with the tool vendor or third-party vendors.
This position consults directly with business users, business analysts, and decision-makers to gather and document requirements and define scope. This position may require developing or assisting "data models" to help define project scope and requirements. This position assists with project plans, facilitates meetings, and assists with estimating and planning project deliverables and dependencies. This position attends planning sessions with internal customers to review upcoming enhancement requests and requirements for existing ETL processes and reports. This position as necessary, research background of requested enhancements to understand legislative requirements or educational practices driving the requests.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Developing Extract, Transform, Load Processes:
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Informatica Extract, Load, and Transform (ETL) processes to load data from the Operational Data Store (ODS), Assessment collections, and external data sources to the Data Warehouse
  • Develop, maintain, and enhance Informatica ETL processes for Data Marts and file creation for federal reporting.
  • In all the above, the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) process must be followed.
  • Must know how the SDLC works.
    • Gather functional requirements; develop detailed requirements; review the functional and detailed requirements with business users/owners; obtain signoff on requirements; develop software and unit test; migrate software to QA and get the business users/owners to test and approve; migrate approved software to production and set up runbooks and schedules.
    • Utilize and develop best practices.
Gathering Requirements:
  • Consult directly with business users, business analysts and decision-makers to gather and document requirements and define scope.
    • This may require developing or assisting with "data models" to help define project scope and requirements.
    • Assists with project plans and facilitates meetings.
  • Assist with estimating and planning project deliverables and dependencies.
  • Attend planning sessions with internal customers to review upcoming requested enhancements and requirements to existing ETL processes and reports.
  • As necessary, research the background of requested enhancements to understand legislative requirements or educational practices driving the requests.
Documentation:
  • Keep existing documentation up to date with changes and modifications applied.
  • Create new detailed documentation for new solutions and reports.
    • This would include adding documentation to related Informatica objects (mappings, workflows, etc.), comments in SQL code, updates to requirements and design documents (process, workflow, and data model documents).
Conducting Training:
  • Coordinate and conduct training and testing for business analysts and other end-users.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
This position requires three (3) years of experience, OR A combination of education and experience totaling three (3) years.
Experience Only:
Three (3) years of relevant professional experience in data integration (SSIS), data warehouse management, or database administration.
Relevant experience includes work that included systems, processes, and knowledge as described below:
  • Experience in Data integration with systems like Informatica, SSIS, or other ETL tools.
  • Experience in data warehouse management that included dimensional data modeling, index mgt, etc
  • Experience with Informatica IDMC / Informatica Cloudor PowerCenter with migration exposure.
  • Experience supporting or administering Informatica environments.
  • Strong SQL skills with Oracle databases.
  • Experience working with stored procedures and database-driven logic.
  • Experience supporting ETL testing, validation, and issue resolution.

Education and Experience Combination:
A combination of related education (e.g., computer science disciplines), a formalized apprenticeship program, certification, and/or relevant experience in an occupation related to the assigned work is equivalent to one (1) year of education and at least two (2) years of experience as described below as "Relevant Experience".

Qualifications for Success in the Position:

  • At least two (2) years of development experience as an Informatica developer, including requirements gathering, data mapping, developing new mappings, transformations, and workflows.
  • Experience with UNIX/LINUX scripting.
