As a Copy Editor within our Marketing and Communications team you will focus on reviewing and editing content for a variety of areas, including but not limited to: web content, video scripts, email blasts, and blogs.  This is a full time Monday - Friday position.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position is responsible for editing and reviewing written content to ensure it is high-quality, engaging, on-brand and serves Banner Health's marketing initiatives across all channels and platforms. As a senior member of Banner’s Content team, is responsible for quality assurance for written language content produced by the content team, vendors, freelancers and agencies, and/or from other Banner departments who require brand review from the marketing function, especially and including content generated by Artificial Intelligence tools. Reviews and approves compelling, on-brand copy for diverse content types including website, blog, email campaigns, video scripts, social media content, print materials, paid media creative, infographics and more. This role requires versatility, strong writing craft, and the ability to adapt voice, tone, and style to meet the needs of different audiences, channels, and content formats.

Ensures copy aligns with content briefs and strategic requirements, and that the final product is polished, publication-ready written content. This role collaborates closely with Brand creative teams, subject matter experts (including physician leaders and clinical experts), legal and compliance teams, and other stakeholders to ensure content accuracy, brand consistency, and regulatory compliance. This position incorporates SEO/AEO/GEO best practices for digital content, follows Banner Health’s established style guides and content governance standards, and maintains Banner Health's brand voice across all written materials.

CORE FUNCTIONS

1. Reviews, edits and approves high-quality written content across multiple content types and channels. Ensures the production of compelling, on-brand copy including website content, blog posts, email campaigns, video scripts, social media content, print materials, paid media creative, podcast scripts, landing pages, and other marketing materials. Adapts writing style, voice, and tone to meet the specific requirements of different audiences, channels, and content formats while maintaining consistency with Banner Health's brand standards.

2. Ensures the final copy adheres to content briefs and strategic requirements and is polished, publication-ready written content. Works from content briefs provided by key marketing stakeholders to ensure that content meets strategic objectives, audience needs, and business goals. Appropriately raises questions as necessary to ensure content accuracy and credibility.

3. Collaborates with physician leaders, clinical subject matter experts (SMEs), and other stakeholders to fact-check for accurate, credible health-related content. Translates complex medical and clinical information into clear, accessible language for consumer audiences. Facilitates content review processes, incorporates expert feedback, and ensures clinical accuracy while maintaining readability and engagement.

4. Incorporates SEO/AEO/GEO best practices and content optimization techniques into written content based on requirements. Integrates target keywords naturally, writes compelling meta descriptions and headers, structures content for search performance, and follows search engine optimization/answer engine optimization/generative engine optimization content guidelines while maintaining quality and readability.

5. Ensures all content adheres to brand standards, style guides, and content governance frameworks. Follows established voice, tone, and messaging guidelines. Maintains consistency across all written materials. Collaborates with legal and compliance teams to ensure content meets healthcare marketing regulations and compliance requirements (HIPAA, FDA, FTC). Implements quality control measures and revisions as needed.

6. Partners with Brand creative teams on integrated content development projects. Collaborates on content that requires coordination between written copy and visual/multimedia elements including graphics, photography, video, and design. Ensures seamless integration of copy with creative assets to deliver cohesive, effective content experiences.

7. Manages multiple editing assignments simultaneously while meeting deadlines and maintaining quality standards. Prioritizes work based on strategic frameworks and business needs. Communicates proactively about project status, potential delays, and resource constraints. Adapts to changing priorities and tight timelines in a fast-paced, agile environment.

8. Incorporates feedback and continuously improves content based on editorial guidance, stakeholder input, and performance insights. Revises and refines content through multiple review cycles. Partners with Marketing Analytics to understand content performance and applies learnings to future content development. Stays current on content marketing trends, writing best practices, and healthcare industry developments.

9. Supports the Content Engine's operational efficiency by following established workflows, meeting production timelines, and contributing to process improvements. Uses content management and collaboration tools effectively. Provides input on content brief templates, style guide updates, and workflow optimizations. Works collaboratively as part of the Content Engine team to achieve shared goals and deliver exceptional content at scale. Manages content requests and production workflows through Adobe Workfront to maintain visibility and alignment with cross-functional stakeholders.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, Marketing, or related field.

7+ years of professional writing or editing experience in marketing, content marketing, publishing or related field.

Portfolio demonstrating versatility across multiple content types (web, email, social media, long-form articles, scripts, etc.).  Exceptional writing, editing, and proofreading skills with strong command of grammar, style, and AP/Chicago style guidelines.  Ability to adapt voice, tone, and style for different audiences, channels, and content formats.  Experience writing for consumer audiences with ability to translate complex information into clear, accessible language.  Strong research skills and ability to quickly learn and write about new topics.  Knowledge of SEO/AEO/GEO content best practices and ability to write optimized content that maintains quality and readability.  Experience working with subject matter experts and incorporating technical or clinical feedback into content.  Ability to manage multiple writing projects simultaneously and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.  Strong collaboration and communication skills with ability to work effectively in a matrixed team environment.  Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and comfort learning new content management, project management (Workfront) and collaboration tools.  Attention to detail with commitment to accuracy and quality.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

5+ years of professional content writing experience.

Healthcare or regulated industry experience. Experience writing health or medical content for consumer audiences. Knowledge of healthcare marketing compliance requirements (HIPAA, FDA, FTC).  

Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and digital asset management (DAM) and project management platforms.  Experience with agile content production methodologies.  Background in journalism or editorial work.  Understanding of content performance metrics and data-informed content optimization.  Experience writing video scripts, podcast scripts, or multimedia content.  Copywriting or advertising agency experience.  

Additional certifications in content marketing, digital marketing, or related areas.

Estimated Pay Range:

$35.37 - $58.95 / hour Banner Health is committed to pay equity and transparency. The posted compensation range is a reasonable estimate that extends from the lowest to the highest pay Banner Health in good faith believes it might pay for this particular job, based on the circumstances at the time of posting. This range is based on possible base salaries and does not include the value of our total rewards package. Actual pay determined at offer will be based on years of relevant work experience, education, certifications, skills, and geographic location, along with a review of current employees in similar roles to ensure pay equity is achieved and maintained.
