Job description

Join the Global LT community and help provide language lessons to business professionals and their families worldwide. We are currently looking for English Language Teachers to provide in-person, customized lessons to a 9-year-old child in Indianapolis, IN.

Job Information:

  • Class: 199407
  • Availability: Wed or Thu from 5:30 pm
  • Lesson Location: Indianapolis, IN 46220 (near Dave's Hot Chicken on 927 Broad Ripple Ave)
  • Preferred start date: ASAP
  • Lesson Frequency: 1x a week; 1-hour lessons
  • Current target language level: Beginner
  • Language spoken at home: Japanese
  • Student’s language needs and goals: He needs lessons focused on reading to boost his reading skills.
  • Additional information: He is passionate about baseball (especially the MLB Los Angeles Dodgers and Japanese teams), Minecraft, and Japanese history, particularly warriors and battleships. He enjoys interactive lessons, especially those involving games, and tends to lose focus during reading-only activities. Because of his young age, he has a shorter attention span, so lessons that incorporate his interests, such as sports and games, are more effective. His current English level is CEFR A1, and he is actively working toward reaching CEFR B.

Responsibilities:

  • Delivering tailored, dynamic, effective, and engaging lessons
  • Developing curricula based on learners’ proficiency level and desired outcomes
  • Monitoring students’ progress and guiding learners toward learning goals
  • Communicating in an efficient, effective, and professional manner

Qualifications:

  • To have a native or near-native written and spoken proficiency in the target language
  • To have a degree or certification in language teaching, education, instructional design, writing, language, linguistics, second-language acquisition, or a related field
  • Minimum of two years of ESL teaching experience
  • Experience teaching children is a must

All Global LT instructor positions are freelance positions. If you feel this could interest you, please submit your CV for consideration.
