Job description

*This position requires 4 days onsite in Brentwood, TN.
The Communications Specialist supports the planning, development, and execution of internal and external communications that advance organizational objectives. Conducts research, drafts and edits strategic content, and contributes to the production of communications materials across multiple platforms. Assists in managing communications projects, ensuring timelines, milestones, and brand/quality standards are met. Collaborates with, and may coordinate, the work of freelance writers, videographers, and external vendors to ensure consistent, accurate, and effective messaging aligned with company goals.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
The incumbent should be able to perform the following functions at a pace and level of performance consistent with the job performance requirements.
  1. Develops, writes, and edits strategic content for internal and external communications across multiple platforms, including websites, intranet, email, social media, digital signage, print publications, video, and presentations.
  2. Applies a wide range of writing skills, including persuasive writing, tailored messaging, storytelling, crisis communication, and social media writing, to produce high-quality articles, executive biographies, announcements, campaign materials, and other communications as needed.
  3. Oversees the management and ongoing maintenance of digital communication platforms, including websites, intranet systems, social media channels, and digital signage, in collaboration with IT and other internal partners.
  4. Serves as project manager for communications initiatives, overseeing timelines, milestones, deliverables, and risk identification to ensure successful completion.
  5. Designs and supports special event programs that enhance goodwill, strengthen community relationships, and promote organizational partnerships.
  6. Manages email and online communication systems to ensure timely updates, proactive messaging, and consistent promotion and protection of the company's brand and reputation.
  7. Conducts research and gathers information from internal subject matter experts to inform content development, support strategic initiatives, and analyze issues relevant to public affairs, partnership development, and corporate communications.
  8. Collaborates with internal teams and departments across the enterprise to develop and deploy content for communication campaigns and organizational initiatives.
  9. Works closely with design and production teams to ensure message accuracy, visual consistency, and alignment with brand standards.
  10. Supports public affairs efforts by assisting with the promotion and distribution of strategic content to media outlets.
  11. Manages external contractors and vendors, including writers, photographers, videographers, printers, and other suppliers, to support communication projects and ensure high quality deliverables.
  12. Participates in team planning discussions and contributes to the development and execution of communication strategies and campaigns.
  13. Domestic U.S. travel may be required.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Graduate from anaccredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree in Communications,English, Journalism, or a closely related field is required.
  • 2+ yearsof relevant communications, media, or marketing experience is required.
  • Provenexperience in managing communications campaigns for a corporate organization oragency.
  • Ability to use contentmanagement systems (CMS) and social media management tools required.
  • Must demonstrate strong writing, editing, andstorytelling abilities, with solid command of tone, structure, and clarity.
  • Knowledgeof interviewing best practices and visual storytelling techniques.
  • Strongfamiliarity with AP Style and ability to apply it consistently.
  • Proven abilityto build effective working relationships across all levels of the organization,including senior management.
  • Strongorganizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects anddeadlines, attention to detail, sound judgment, and the ability to maintainaccuracy under tight timelines.
  • Proficiencyin Microsoft Office applications is required.
