Job description

Job Summary
Develops curriculum and presents lessons in subject areas to children or adult clients of a state educational, rehabilitation, health care or correctional facility. Adapts teaching and instructional methods or uses specialized techniques to individualize instruction. Develops individual instruction plans, provides instruction, completes reports and tutors students.
Job Duties and Responsibilities
Responsibilities include the following as addressed and measured by the Teacher Keys Effective System (TKES):
Demonstration of professional knowledge; instructional planning using Georgia standards, effective strategies, resources and data; use of research-based instructional strategies; providing individual differentiated instruction; choosing appropriate assessment strategies and analyzing and using data gathered to measure student progress, inform instructional content and delivery, and provide feedback; create and maintain a positive and academically challenging bilingual learning environment; exhibit professionalism and effective communication. Other responsibilities include, but not limited to, IEP management, professional learning, student supervision, Teacher as Advisors (TAA), Reading and Math intervention and other duties as assigned.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Possesses or is eligible to obtain Georgia Teacher Certification in the grade or content area of the prospective position.
  • Three years of experience teaching deaf/hard of hearing students
  • ASL proficiency at 3+ or above as measured by the American Sign Language Profiency Interview (ASLPI) or appropriate GSD staff.
