Job description

Our client, a personal care manufacturing company, is looking for a Raw Materials Specialist to join their team! This will be a onsite role working out of their office in Kenilworth. The successful candidate will have a Bachelor's degree and 2+ years of experience in raw material technical support, quality assurance, formulation with background in consumer or cosmetic products industry.
  • Contract Role: Approx. 6 months
  • Pay: $35/hr on W2
Responsibilities:
  • Maintain and manage all global raw material information, specifications, and inspection plans within SAP-MDG, Enginuity, and other internal databases.
  • Lead the end-to-end qualification process for new raw materials and alternate suppliers, coordinating with R&D, Regulatory, Safety, and Analytical teams.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and third-party manufacturers to resolve day-to-day material issues and support global product development needs.
  • Oversee vendor communications, distribute checklists, request samples/documentation, and ensure all material data is compliant and up-to-date.
  • Create, revise, and validate internal raw material specifications and test methods, ensuring alignment between vendor standards and quality requirements.
  • Support global initiatives by providing "where-used" data, maintaining sustainability/origin information, and ensuring all material data supports regulatory and EHS inquiries.
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Pharmacy, Biology, or a related scientific field, with a Master's degree considered an advantage.
  • 2-3 years of experience in raw material technical support, quality assurance, formulation, or procurement/sales.
  • Preference is given to individuals with a background in the consumer or cosmetic products industry and a foundational understanding of bench-top formulation.
  • Must possess strong analytical chemistry skills (wet chemical and instrumental) and familiarity with regulatory standards for cosmetics, food, or pharmaceuticals.
  • Requires proficiency in Microsoft Office and prefers candidates experienced with SAP, external raw material databases, and search engines.
  • Demonstrated ability to be proactive and professional while working effectively within a team and across diverse cross-functional R&D departments.
