Position Purpose:  
We are seeking great Freelance Event Health & Safety Managers (HSSE), (U.S. Based) for upcoming work in the Washington DC area July to November 2026.   Candidates should be able to be on ground in Washington DC for the entire project duration July to November 2026 (travel and accommodations provided). This application is not for full-time employment.     
    
Responsibilities: 
  • Developing, consulting, and approval of HSSE departmental planning documents and policies.
  • Development of crowd management and guest flow best practices.
  • Develop the Event Control plan and oversee the Event Control (EC) vendor, understanding the unique requirements and stakeholders for each event.
  • Develop, distribute, and track RFPs for the HSSE department including but not limited to: security, health and safety, medical, security screening technology, and CCTV.
  • Work closely with HSSE leadership to track finances and follow procurement/finance policies and procedures.
  • Represent the HSSE department on the ground during build, show, and break.
  • Attending project meetings and working with project leader to deliver a safe and secure show, inline with the current strategies set in place for the HSSE department.
  • Creating and collating post-event report and reporting back to the leadership team
  • Other tasks as required.
  • This role in particular does have fluidity to it and may vary based on project needs. 
Position Requirements: 
 
  • Bachelors degree and Prior HSSE Manager festival experience at the national or international level.
  • Evaluate approaches and discover efficiencies
  • Strategize, meet and devise plans with executives and core team members
  • Formulate strategy and direction
  • Play a key role in communications with all stakeholders and all departments.
  • Ensure legal and contractual documents are correct.
  • Guarantee communication paths are frequent and open.
  • Enforce policies & procedures.
  • Ensure that all work conforms to pre-established specifications & standards of TAIT.
  • Take initiative, multi-task, and work positively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Work with discretion, diplomacy, confidentiality, and tact in high-pressure settings.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency & act responsively.
  • Work independently as well as within a team environment.
  • Supremely organized, detail-oriented, and thorough.
