Working Hours and/or Working Conditions: Work is performed in a combination of indoor classroom settings, campus outdoor areas, and specialized instructional spaces such as labs or mock crime-scene environments.The position requires accompanying students during an off-site visit to the Macomb County Medical Examiner's Office, which involves exposure to sensitive and potentially distressing forensic environments.Group Leaders may be exposed to simulated crime-scene materials (e.g., artificial blood, fingerprint powder, lab equipment) used for educational purposes.The role involves frequent interaction with high school students, instructors, guest presenters, and facility staff, requiring consistent professionalism and situational awareness.Workdays may be fast-paced, with multiple transitions between activities, requiring flexibility and the ability to manage shifting schedules.Noise levels may vary from quiet classroom instruction to louder, more active hands-on scenariosWork Hours: June 15 - June 17, 2026 7:30 am - 4:30 pm

Supervision: SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Reports to the Director, Public Service Institute. Takes direction from Criminal Justice Faculty. SUPERVISION GIVEN: Camp participants.
Job FunctionAs the Group Leader for the CSI cohort, you will supervise and guide high school students throughout their on-campus forensic science activities, ensuring safety, and active engagement. Your responsibilities include supporting students during hands-on experiments and serving as the primary point of contact for questions or concerns that arise during the program.
You will also accompany the students during their visit to the Macomb County Medical Examiner's Office, where they will receive presentations and participate in mock crime scenes (manikins will be utilized). In this setting, you will ensure adherence to facility protocols, maintain respectful conduct given the sensitive environment, and help students connect what they observe to the broader field of forensic science and the criminal justice system.
Job Responsibilities- Assist students with hands on experiments in the Criminal Justice laboratory
- Keep track of the whereabouts of each student in their group
- Assist sessions with the group
- Keeps each group on time for breakout sessions and dismissal.
- Assist with daily setup and cleanup of instructional spaces, equipment, and materials.
- Report any issues or incidents promptly to program leadership, including safety concerns, student conflicts, or policy violations.
- Ensure proper conduct during the Medical Examiner's Office visit, including respect for the sensitive nature of the environment and strict adherence to all facility rules.
- If needed, ensures students medication to nurse for medication delivery
EducationHigh School Diploma or GED
QualificationsMinimum 18 years of age.
