Job description

Position Overview:

Flexpak is seeking a dependable Production Lead to oversee overnight production activities while serving as a hands-on leader for the Graveyard Shift. This is a working lead position responsible for supporting daily production, coordinating workflow, maintaining quality standards, and helping employees succeed while working alongside the team. The Production Lead is responsible for helping ensure production goals, quality standards, and safety expectations are met while working alongside employees on the production floor. This individual will provide direction, coaching, and support to team members while serving as a key communication link between the production team and the Shift Supervisor. This position also requires flexibility to occasionally extend the workday by up to four (4) additional hours to provide coverage for another shift when business needs require.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Leadership & Team Support

•Lead by example through active participation in daily production activities.
•Assign work and help prioritize production tasks to meet daily schedules.
•Train and coach new and existing employees on production processes, quality expectations, and safety procedures.
•Monitor employee performance and provide real-time feedback.
•Communicate production updates, staffing concerns, and operational issues to the Shift Supervisor.
•Help maintain a positive, productive, and team-oriented work environment.

Production Operations

•Perform hands-on production work, including assembly of packaging products using corrugated materials, foam, plastics, adhesives, and other packaging components.
•Operate production equipment including glue machines, cutters, trimmers, pouch machines, and other manufacturing equipment.
•Ensure work orders are completed accurately and on schedule.
•Verify product quality throughout the production process.

Material Handling

•Safely operate forklifts to move raw materials, work-in-process, and finished goods.
•Load and unload trucks as needed.
•Stage materials for production.
•Assist with inventory organization and cycle counts.

Safety & Quality

•Promote and enforce company safety policies and PPE requirements.
•Identify and report quality, equipment, and safety concerns.
•Maintain a clean, organized work area following 5S standards.
•Ensure production is completed according to company quality standards.

Qualifications

•Previous manufacturing or production experience required.
•Prior experience leading or mentoring employees preferred.
•Forklift experience preferred or willingness to become certified.
•Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
•Ability to multitask in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
•Dependable with strong attendance.
•Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus
•Willingness to occasionally work up to four additional hours to support production coverage.

Physical Requirements

•Stand and walk for extended periods.
•Frequently bend, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions.
•Lift up to 50 pounds regularly.
•Safely operate forklifts and production equipment.
