Production Engineer – Deep Water

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Senior Production Engineer is responsible for well and flowline activities within the framework of Talos Energy’s policies and procedures and in compliance with applicable regulations.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: 

The Senior Production Engineer duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Conduct daily surveillance of wells, flowlines, and umbilicals to ensure safe and efficient operations
  • Monitor and analyze well and field performance using nodal (PROSPER) and network (GAP) modeling
  • Identify and implement production optimization and debottlenecking opportunities
  • Design and manage artificial lift systems and oversee well/flowline startup and operating procedures
  • Plan and execute wellwork and flowline maintenance activities (e.g., slickline, chemical treatments, pigging, flushing, remediation)
  • Manage flow assurance programs, including prevention and remediation of hydrates, paraffin, and asphaltene issues
  • Support well integrity activities, including annulus pressure monitoring, SCSSV/USV testing, and diagnostics
  • Optimize chemical injection programs and ensure accurate well testing and production allocation
  • Plan, track, and improve downtime and production efficiency
  • Develop annual operating budgets for well and flowline activities
  • Lead well reviews and collaborate with asset teams, production personnel, and stakeholders
  • Coordinate with regulatory teams to secure approvals (e.g., BSEE) and ensure compliance
  • Participate in partner meetings and provide timely operational updates
  • Support and ensure compliance with HSE policies and initiatives

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 7 years of experience in upstream oil and gas operations with at least 5 years of subsea/deepwater experience preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering, chemical engineering or related field.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:

  • Experience in production monitoring, optimization, forecasting, and operations
  • Knowledge of deepwater developments, subsea infrastructure, and applicable regulations (e.g., BSEE)
  • Experience evaluating well performance and supporting completion design and operations, including artificial lift, stimulation, and smart well systems
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize a high-volume workload
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • High integrity with sound judgment in handling ethical situations
  • Proactive approach to self-development and continuous improvement
  • Willingness to work a flexible and demanding schedule
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with data visualization and real-time monitoring tools (e.g., Spotfire, Seeq, PI Vision) preferred

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Employee must be able to sit for extended periods of time and have use of arms and hands in repetitive motion. A fair amount of standing and walking is also required for the position.
  • Employee must be able to travel offshore to visit production facilities when necessary.
