Job description

About Moby
Moby is changing the way people invest. We use AI to transform the world's financial data and research into clear, actionable reports that anyone can understand. Our mission is to build the largest and most accessible investing research library in the world.
We already reach over 30 million people each month across our social channels and content platforms-and we're just getting started. With a thriving marketing foundation in place, we're now looking to scale our ad sales efforts with a dedicated leader focused on monetizing this reach.
The Role
We're looking for a driven, resourceful Business Development Representative to help build and expand Moby's advertising pipeline.
This is a high-impact, revenue-generating role focused on outbound prospecting, relationship building, and sourcing new brand and agency partnerships. You'll work closely with the Directors of Ad Sales to identify target accounts, initiate conversations, qualify opportunities, and help move deals forward.
The ideal candidate is hungry, organized, comfortable with cold outreach, and excited about building something from the ground up.
Responsibilities
  • Identify and research target brands and agencies aligned with Moby's audience
  • Execute high-volume, thoughtful outbound outreach via email, LinkedIn, and calls
  • Book qualified meetings for the Ad Sales team
  • Develop relationships with media buyers, planners, and brand marketers
  • Maintain and update CRM with pipeline activity and notes
  • Support proposal development and early-stage packaging for smaller opportunities
  • Track outreach performance metrics and optimize messaging
  • Represent Moby professionally in conversations with enterprise brands
  • Operational duties such as contract management and account management

Qualifications
  • 1-3+ years of experience in business development, sales, media, or advertising
  • Hunter mindset and expert in outbound prospecting and cold outreach
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly organized and self-motivated
  • Able to handle rejection and stay persistent but strategic
  • Experience in media, advertising, or finance a plus
  • Based in NYC or willing to work in a hybrid environment

What Success Looks Like
  • Consistent generation of qualified meetings with target agencies and brands
  • Healthy, growing outbound pipeline
  • Increasing conversion rates from meeting to proposal
  • Ownership of smaller campaigns over time

Growth Path
High performers may evolve into:
  • Account Executive
  • Ad Sales Manager

As Moby's advertising business scales, there will be real opportunity to grow into full-cycle selling.
