Job description

Job Summary
The TOSA Community Specialist will support the implementation of Halkin's Community School program. The TOSA Community Specialist will provide direct services to students, staff and families with an integrated focus on academics, health and social services, and community engagement. The TOSA Community Specialist will support a community school framework and support the implementation of a Multi-tiered System of support by conducting assessments and integrating the data to provide direct academic and social emotional learning interventions for students identified with specific focus on English Learners & Foster Youth. TOSA Community Specialist will play an active role in facilitating and supporting SST/COST/504 meetings and programs. They will create and deliver professional development on community strategies and academic/behavior intervention strategies to improve student's outcomes. A focus will be placed implementing the community school framework by ensuring resources, community services, extended learning programs, and family support programs are coordinated and specific focus on:
-Providing intervention services that are centered around executive function support and socioemotional learning during the day and in extended learning spaces.
-Foster relationships with community organizations and service providers to coordinate resources and support for students and their families.
-Collaborate with teachers and other support staff to implement and monitor multi-tiered intervention systems for students experiencing academic or behavioral challenges.
-Work with the site Administrators and Parent Facilitator to plan and facilitate workshops for the families of ELL students, including those on the English Learner Advisory Committee (ELAC).
-Collaborate with administrators, counseling staff, and COST coordinators to align intervention strategies with overall school goals and Community Schools Framework and grant strategies.
