Position Description

The Access Management Specialist evaluates and processes user access requests, ensuring access remains appropriate, compliant, and aligned with business needs. This entry-level analytical role, also known as an access governance analyst or identity and access management analyst, provides training on systems, processes, and access governance requirements. The Access Management Specialist analyzes information, identifies potential risks, investigates unusual situations, and determines when additional clarification or escalation is required, working within a collaborative team environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Evaluate access requests to confirm alignment with business requirements, training completion, approval requirements, and established processes
  • Analyze requests to identify potential risks, inconsistencies, or unusual access patterns
  • Communicate with internal stakeholders to gather additional information and clarify business needs
  • Determine when requests require additional review, approval, or escalation
  • Address access related requests by evaluating segregation of duties (SoD) conflicts and access governance requirements
  • Respond to access related inquiries received through phone, email, and ticketing systems
  • Run and review system access reports and take appropriate action based on established procedures
  • Coordinate application related training assignments and access requirements
  • Create software change requests (SCRs) related to role maintenance

  • Identifies risks, inconsistencies, and unusual access patterns before they become compliance issues
  • Builds strong working relationships with business partners, learning teams, and system owners
  • Escalates the right issues at the right time based on sound judgment
  • Contributes ideas that improve processes, documentation, and operational efficiency

Position Requirements

This Position Requires the Following Skills and Attributes

  • Associate's degree or equivalent combination of education and applicable experience
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate information and make sound decisions based on available facts
  • Ability to identify inconsistencies, unusual situations, and potential risks
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills
  • Comfortable asking follow up questions to fully understand business requirements
  • Ability to prioritize competing tasks and manage multiple assignments simultaneously
  • Ability to learn complex business processes and apply them consistently
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel
  • Ability to analyze requests and identify solutions with minimal supervision
  • Ability to recognize when escalation or additional review is required
  • Ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment

Preferred

The Following Skills and Attributes Are Preferred

  • Experience working with data, reports, spreadsheets, auditing, compliance, quality systems, operations, finance, technical support, or business process review
  • Experience reviewing information and identifying inconsistencies or exceptions
  • Experience working in environments that require attention to detail and accuracy
  • Experience managing competing priorities while meeting deadlines
  • Familiarity with SAP, SAP Governance, Risk, and Compliance (SAP GRC), access management, compliance, security, or governance processes
  • Experience supporting internal customers in a professional business environment
  • Demonstrated curiosity, investigative thinking, and willingness to challenge assumptions respectfully
  • Prior experience identifying process improvements or operational efficiencies
