Locomotive Engineer Rail Operations

Location: Beaumont, TX

Starting Pay: $24$26/hour entry level pay (career growth up to $30/hour)

Schedule: 12-hour rotating shifts (days, nights, weekends)

Type: Full-Time | In Person

Iron Horse Terminals is looking for an ExperiencedLocomotive Engineer to join our rail operations team in Beaumont, Texas. We're seeking professionals who take pride in operating safely, mentoring conductors, and keeping freight moving efficiently. If you're looking for a stable railroad operation with consistent work and opportunities for advancement, we'd like to talk with you.


What You'll Do

  • Safely operate locomotives during switching and yard operations
  • Lead train movements while maintaining full compliance with FRA operating rules
  • Work closely with Conductors to execute switching plans and railcar placement
  • Interpret switch lists, customer instructions, and movement plans
  • Conduct locomotive inspections and ensure equipment is operating safely
  • Maintain required FRA documentation and operating records
  • Communicate effectively by radio with crew members and supervisors
  • Perform brake tests and ensure compliance with applicable operating procedures
  • Identify hazards and stop operations when safety is at risk
  • Mentor Conductors and newer train crew members
  • Support a culture of professionalism, accountability, and safety


What You Bring

  • Current FRA Engineer Certification (preferred)
  • Current FRA Conductor Certification (preferred)
  • 2+ years operating locomotives in switching or industrial rail operations
  • Strong knowledge of FRA operating rules and safe switching practices
  • Ability to safely work around moving rail equipment
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to make sound decisions in safety-critical situations
  • Reliable attendance and strong work ethic
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
