The Opportunity

On The Mark Utility Locating Services, Inc. (OTM) is hiring an entry-level Utility Technician / Utility Locator for a dedicated program in Aurora and the surrounding Fox Metro service area. This outdoor, field-based role is ideal for someone who enjoys working independently, using technology and specialized equipment, solving problems, and protecting underground infrastructure.

What You'll Do

  • Review JULIE/811 excavation tickets, maps, GIS information, addresses, and utility records.
  • Travel to assigned sites and use electronic equipment to locate underground utilities.
  • Mark utility locations with paint and flags and complete accurate electronic documentation.
  • Safely operate a company vehicle and communicate professionally with supervisors, excavators, clients, and the public.
  • Work outdoors in varying weather and provide occasional after-hours or weekend emergency response after training.

What We're Looking For

  • At least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and an acceptable driving record.
  • Dependable attendance, attention to detail, sound judgment, and a strong commitment to safety.
  • Comfort using smartphones, tablets, maps, cameras, email, and mobile applications.
  • Ability to perform outdoor physical work, follow procedures, and learn technical field skills.
  • Construction, landscaping, public works, utilities, delivery, maintenance, surveying, or military experience is helpful but not required.

Pay and Benefits

$20.00-$25.00 per hour, with pay progression opportunities as training and proficiency are completed. OTM provides a company vehicle for work use, locating equipment, mobile technology, PPE, and field supplies. Eligible full-time employees may receive medical, dental, vision, paid time off, paid holidays, life insurance, and a 401(k) with company match, subject to plan terms.
