Job description

Clearwater Structures Inc. is a general contractor and an industry leader in the heavy civil construction sector. We specialize in new bridge construction and rehabilitation, hydraulic lifting, concrete restoration, dam construction and several other services. We are currently hiring for a new Heavy Civil Engineering Graduate with relevant co-op experience for the Ottawa/East Ontario Region.


You will be responsible for:


  • Develop an understanding of contract drawings and Specifications.
  • Assist with Planning and Scheduling - keep site diary detailing crews and activities.
  • Critical path schedules - review and develop understanding.
  • Source materials - call for pricing and review with SrPC or PM prior to ordering.
  • Ensure all packing slips for material delivered to site are coded and submitted to the office weekly.
  • Track materials and ensure materials delivery meets schedule deadlines.
  • Prepare submittals, sub payments and progress payments - keep site diary tracking quantities. Enter quantities to payment.
  • Sub payments.
  • Change orders.
  • Assist with claims.
  • Schedule and track all QC aspects of the project.
  • Coordinate and schedule crews and equipment.
  • Quantity takeoffs and assist with estimating.
  • Attend site progress meetings.
  • Gain familiarity with bid as it relates to the work onsite.
  • Track job site COR Safety forms to ensure compliance.
  • Coordinate design of temporary structures: shoring, bridge jacking, access, protection systems.
  • Track key items costs and productions.

Competencies:

  • Civil Engineering Program completed and/or 1-3 relevant industry experience in
  • MTO heavy civil infrastructure construction projects, an asset
  • MTO Experience working with MTO's Web-based Contract Management Software (Kahua), an asset
  • Strong ability to command respect (particularly regarding OHS regulations)
  • Proven ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with solid ability to be clear, concise and use appropriate and professional forms of communication.
  • Ability to form strong working relationships with team members and key stakeholders at all levels
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Resourceful, takes initiative and is flexible to changing work requirements
  • Sound problem-solving skills and ability to think on your feet
  • Reliable and takes ownership for their work

Other requirements:

  • Must be willing to travel to various jobsites throughout Ottawa/East Ontario Region.
  • Must be willing to work nights to meet project demands/schedules, if/when required
  • Must have full G license and clean abstract


What we offer:

  • $55,000-65,000 per year based on experience
