Overview
The Electrical Trainee is a working field position that duels as an assistant and extra set of hands for the branch Foreman and/or Electricians. The Electrical Trainee's main duties will be to provide assistance and technical electrical support to the Foreman and Electricians, and will also work as a team with the Lead and Installers to complete mechanical portions of residential solar installation projects.
Responsibilities

  • Assist in the installation of electrical systems that interconnect the solar array to the grid power of our customer's residential property

  • Assist in the troubleshooting of system problems and help resolve electrical issues

  • Assemble the racking and solar array when assigned

  • Trenching, concrete work and equipment assembly

  • Project clean up including client site and installation vehicle

  • Ensure attention to detail with an emphasis on safety, quality, customer service, and productivity

  • Demonstrate knowledge of OSHA standards related to photovoltaic installations and enforce safety practices and standards

  • Develop a positive working dynamic within installation crew and branch co-workers


Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent

  • Minimum 2 years of electrical installation and repair experience

  • Knowledge of the NEC and applicable codes and standards

  • Ability to perform all installation duties of the Installer and Lead Installer

  • Professional appearance and customer interaction

  • Have a strong work ethic, high level of craftsmanship/workmanship with strong attention to detail

  • Basic computer knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Word

  • Willingness and ability to participate in the Power+ programs, which means you may be cross trained to perform comparable work in other departments or asked to perform work in other departments you're already skilled to support.

  • Possess strong mechanical/construction skills

  • Have excellent verbal communication and documentation skills

  • Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

  • Maintain a valid Driver's License

  • 5% travel is required


Physical Demands

  • Ability to transport materials and equipment to complete assigned job tasks (up to 50 pounds frequently and up to 100 pounds with assistance)

  • Ability to work safely in a branch/warehouse/rooftop environment

  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work

  • Ability to interact with co-workers and participate in meetings

  • Ability to work on rooftops with various angles and surfaces

  • Ability to work in outdoor weather conditions
