Hazelett Corporation is a global leader in continuous metal casting technology. Our strip-casting machines integrate mechanical, electrical, thermal, and automation systems to produce materials used in automotive structural components, aluminum foil, lead-acid batteries, and copper wiring. POSITION OVERVIEW:

We are seeking an Entry-Level Mechanical Drafter / CAD Technician who is motivated, detail-oriented, and eager to learn. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career candidate looking to build a strong foundation in mechanical drafting and CAD within a real-world manufacturing environment. You will work closely with experienced engineers and designers to create and update technical drawings and 3D models for custom industrial machinery. Training and mentorship will be provided.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Create and update 2D drawings and basic 3D models using SolidWorks.
  • Revise existing drawings based on redlines, markups, and engineering guidance.
  • Assist with drawing packages, part lists, and basic bills of material (BOMs).
  • Maintain organized CAD files and documentation following company standards.
  • Check drawings for completeness, accuracy, and consistency.
  • Support Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) by revising and releasing drawings.
  • Communicate with engineers, manufacturing, and purchasing to clarify details.
  • Assist with prototype builds, shop support, and basic design improvements.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements:

WHAT YOU WILL NEED:

  • Basic experience with SolidWorks or similar CAD software.
  • Understanding of fundamental drafting practices and drawing layouts.
  • Exposure to mechanical components, structures, or manufactured parts.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • High school diploma or GED with relevant CAD or drafting experience.
  • Associate degree in Mechanical Technology, Drafting, or related field (preferred).
  • Internship, co-op, or classroom CAD experience welcomed.
