Position Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented individual to join our Accounts Payable team for the position of AP Specialist. This is a temporary, entry-level position requiring the employee to perform a wide variety of clerical responsibilities within the Accounts Payable function up to and including addressing internal and external inquiries for vendors and large volumes of data processing. Assignment is projected to last approximately 3-4 months.
Key Responsibilities (Essential Duties and Functions)
The duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
  • Proactively work to address internal and external account inquiries via phone and/or email communication.
  • Review monthly vendor statements and communicate payment details and/or obtain outstanding invoice payments from Vendors.
  • Identify vendor account maintenance needs and submit requests to the Specialist team for actioning.
  • Retrieve and process mail on a rotational schedule in partnership with workgroup members.
  • Identify opportunities for training and process improvement initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • Display a professional and courteous attitude to co-workers, supervisors, and the general public at all times.
  • Must be willing to work nights and weekends when necessary.
  • Report to the assigned job site ready to begin work at the designated start time.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in the Manual of Safety Practices and Procedures.
  • Strict adherence to Staker Parson Companies policies and procedures as outlined in the Company Book of Policies.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • Timely and regular attendance is an expectation of performance for all Staker Parson Companies employees.
  • Employees will be held accountable for adhering to their workplace schedule.
  • Knowledge with Windows, Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Overtime may be required during peak season.
  • Possibility of travel between offices.

Qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.
Education/Experience
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required.
  • 1-2 years of related office, accounting or administrative experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Language Skills
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

Mathematical Skills
  • Ability to add, subtracts, multiply and divides in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

Reasoning Ability
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

Computer Skills
  • Must have speed and accuracy using normal keyboard including the number pad. Must be proficient in Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Word experience. Operate a 10 key with speed and accuracy. Familiarity with a purchase order system is a plus.
