Job Description:
The University of Florida is looking for an Accountant II to provide accounting, budgeting, and financial aid fund management support within the Division of Enrollment Management. In this role, you will coordinate division-wide accounting functions, manage financial aid fund processes, support budget development, and collaborate across units to ensure accuracy, compliance, and exceptional service.
Key responsibilities include:
Accounting Operations
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reconciles monthly financial records across all Enrollment Management departments.
  • Administers and evaluates accounting systems, recommending improvements and updating procedures.
  • Maintains general and subsidiary ledgers and supports internal auditing practices.
  • Prepares routine and ad-hoc financial reports.

Student Financial Aid Fund Management
  • Tracks federal, state, and institutional financial aid funds administered by Student Financial Aid (SFA).
  • Ensures proper cash management and prevents over- or under-utilization of funds.
  • Monitors compliance with matching requirements and other program mandates.
  • Completes required federal, state, and institutional reporting.

Budget Coordination
  • Supports budget development and management for Enrollment Management units.
  • Maintains financial records and provides periodic budget reports.
  • Assists with forecasting, researching, and justifying operating budget requests.
  • Uploads budget information into university systems and ensures accounts remain balanced.

Cross-Functional Support & Collaboration
  • Cross-trains across Finance team functions and provides coverage during high-volume periods or staff absences.
  • Serves as liaison with General Accounting and collaborates with division, college, and university offices.
  • Attends relevant meetings to stay current on policies, regulations, and procedural updates.

Other Duties
  • Performs other responsibilities as assigned to support the Finance team and division goals.

Expected Salary:
$65,000 annually

Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in an appropriate area and two years of relevant experience.
Preferred:
  • Excellent analytical, verbal, and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of federal and state laws and university regulations pertaining to accounting and fiscal management.
  • Ability to prepare, present, coordinate, and monitor all federal, state, and university funding received by the Division.
  • Ability to design and implement accounting systems as well as analyze and interpret data.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and a demonstrated ability to work collaboratively.
  • Must have substantial expertise relevant to the use of computers and appropriate software.
  • Knowledge of fiscal accounting functions and processes.
  • Ability to work independently, exercise good judgment, and work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to handle the pressures of a high-volume, multi-faceted job assignment where excellent customer service, attention to detail, accuracy, and timeliness are critical
