Data Center Field Installation Technician (L1 & L2)

Location: Colorado City, TX./Barber, TX. (Onsite)

Duration: 3+ Month Contract (Potential for Extension or Full-Time Conversion)

Pay Rate: $20 - $35/hour

Openings: 10 Positions


Position Overview

We are seeking entry-level Data Center Field Installation Technicians (L1) to support large-scale AI data center deployment projects in Colorado City, TX./Barber, TX. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with structured cabling experience who are looking to grow within the data center and infrastructure industry

.Ideal candidates may come from military, trade school, technical school, or hands-on cabling backgrounds and should have at least 5–6 months of experience working with fiber or structured cabling environments

.This role involves hands-on installation work within a live data center environment, including rack and stack activities, copper and fiber cabling, equipment installation, and airflow/cooling support. Candidates must be dependable, eager to learn, safety-focused, and comfortable working in physically demanding environments

.Travel may be required for training approximately one week prior to start date. Travel expenses will be covered if applicable

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform rack assembly and preparation, including rail kits, PDUs, cable management, and labeling
  • Rack and stack servers, storage, and networking equipment according to design specifications Execute structured cabling activities including:
  • Fiber cabling
  • Copper cabling
  • Cat5/Cat6 installation
  • Coax and low-voltage cabling
  • Route, dress, terminate, and label cabling according to standards
  • Connect power cabling and assist with redundancy configurations
  • Support airflow and cooling setup activities within racks and cabinets
  • Assist with direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling installations under supervision
  • Follow installation procedures, diagrams, checklists, and Method of Procedures (MOPs)
  • Perform basic quality checks and report installation discrepancies
  • Maintain organized and clean work areas throughout project execution


Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 5–6 months of hands-on structured cabling experience
  • Experience working with fiber optic and/or copper cabling
  • Familiarity with: Cat5/Cat6 cabling Coax cabling Cable routing and management
  • Basic rack and stack procedures
  • Experience in data centers, central offices (CO), or low-voltage environments preferred
  • Basic understanding of rack infrastructure, including rails, PDUs, and cable management
  • Ability to read and follow technical documentation and installation procedures
  • Strong work ethic, positive attitude, and willingness to learn
  • Must be comfortable performing physical work, including:
  • Lifting equipment
  • Standing for extended periods
  • Working in confined rack spaces
  • Candidates with personal cabling/crimping tools are prefer

Additional Information

  • Onsite position in Colorado City, TX./Barber, TX.
  • Shift work required 1st, 2nd, & 3rd
  • First shift: 7amto 4pm
  • Second Shift: 3pm to 12am
  • Third Shift: 11pm- 8am
  • Opportunity for long-term extension or future full-time employment based on performance
