Job description

The Position

We are seeking entry level or experienced Mammo Technologist to perform Mammography screening & Diagnostic, assist Radiologists during breast biopsy procedures, DEXA, and perform general x-ray.


The Location

Rego Park Imaging an affiliate site of Northwell Health will pride itself on delivering the most advanced and complex imaging care with compassion and respect, playing a critical role towards advancing the care plan for the patients in and around the Queens Community. Located at 95-25 Queens Blvd Rego Park NY 11374, Rego Park Imaging will be Northwell’s largest affiliate Ambulatory Imaging Center in size, scope, complexity & patient volume. Comprised of both a Body Imaging Division and a Breast Imaging Division, a team of 30+FTEs will provide imaging in CT, MRI, US, X-ray, Dexa, Mammography, and PET CT; all used for diagnostic imaging, and many used for image guided procedures. Job Responsibility

  • Communicates with Radiologist to confirm required exam details and ensure optimal quality of images.
  • Reviews and correlates patient's prior imaging reports, using Breast Imaging Reporting and Data System lexicons, to categorize procedure to be performed.
  • Prepares patient for exam. Translates procedure into layman terms, based on professional knowledge, to relieve patient of any pre-testing anxiety.
  • Performs mammography exams according to established standards and procedures of division. Adjusts imaging equipment and operates controls to obtain correct exposure.
  • Assists physician in performance of mammographic image-guided interventional/special breast exams or procedures, including stereotactic biopsy, wire or seed implant localization, and contrast enhanced mammography.
  • Performs general x-ray exams including, but not limited to, bone density exams, as needed.
  • Perform specimen imaging, when necessary. Safely handles specimens and ensures all labeling, paperwork and imaging is sent to Pathology.
  • Monitors patient’s condition in accordance with technical and safety standards. Recognizes and promptly reports any motor abnormalities including, fainting, discoloration, contrast reactions etc., to Radiologist and/or nurses.
  • Ensures required documentation is completed throughout exam.
  • Operates equipment for transferring images to film and/or disc.
  • Ensures images are properly marked as “right” or “left” side and labeled with date and patient identification. Utilizes modality worklist to select patient and verify accession number coincides.
  • Enters patient history and other pertinent information obtained from requisition into system.
  • Maintains imaging equipment. Makes setting adjustments, as needed. Informs management of any mechanical issues/repair needs.
  • Reviews and maintains supply inventory in assigned area.
  • Maintains cleanliness of procedure room.

  • Ensure that Patient Safety, particularly related to Patient Identification, is included in each patient experience.
  • Foster positive communication, create positive patient experiences, and deliver Service Excellence during every patient interaction.
  • Aligning Imaging’s strategic vision to meet the needs of Northwell Health’s clinical programs in the surrounding communities.
  • Strengthen existing relationships, while establishing new relationships with referring physicians and surrounding communities to ensure timely access to imaging care.

Job Qualification

  • Graduate of an accredited Radiologic Technology program, required.
  • New York State Department of Health licensure as a Radiologic Technologist, required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) registration in Mammography, required.
  • Minimum of 200 mammography exams performed within past 24 months, required.
