Job Summary:
As a Junior Database Administrator, the successful candidate will perform database administration tasks, with guidance from senior staff, for the implementation and operation of a variety of database systems and applications running on Linux and Windows server platforms, containers and Azure. The tasks which are in direct support of TRS' software development and application teams include creation of data fix scripts, database design, database analysis, restoration, configuration, performance monitoring and tuning.
Essential Functions:
  • Evaluate and handle failed SQL Server Agent jobs, including backups and maintenance jobs
  • Perform defined tasks including implementing approved user access, running established audit processes, executing approved changes requests, restoring databases to other environments as required
  • Perform database administration assignments as directed to implementation and operation of database systems and applications running on Linux and Windows server platforms
  • Support the complete software development life cycle from conception to deployment in an Agile environment. Including with direction, creation of DDL and data change scripts aligned with current database standards as part of the iteration activities
  • Review and ensure database integrity using standardized support tools
  • Ensure tasks are performed in accordance with database administration guidelines, standards and procedures for application development, implementation, testing, and migration
  • Support the automated testing and providing feedback to team leadership during the development process
  • Under direction of senior staff modifying, testing, and creation of DDL and data changes
  • Document processes, data models, and other database artifacts with standardized tools
  • Under direction of senior staff partner with teams to document cataloging, lineage, and data stewardship, while ensuring data quality, security, and compliance.
  • Perform first line level of troubleshooting and debugging of Database issues. Consulting with senior staff before performing non-standard changes
  • Be available to troubleshoot SQL Server service outages and deployments even after- hours and weekends
  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation will be determined based on the qualifications and experience of each candidate.
