Job description

Trainee Sales Rep
Inside Sales
Langley, BC

Have you ever considered a career in the building materials industry?
If not, you probably should.
Look around you, your condo, your home, your office, your local coffee shop, the library down the street. Every one of those spaces was built intentionally using products that had to be designed, manufactured, distributed, selected, sold, and installed by skilled people across the construction and building products industry.
That door beside you? Someone manufactured it. Someone brought it into a distributor or retail location. Someone specified it. Someone sold it. Someone delivered it. Someone installed it.
The flooring beneath your feet, the siding on buildings, the windows, railings, decking, lighting, millwork, roofing, insulation, cabinetry, and hardware, every part of the built environment exists because of an enormous network of people and businesses working together behind the scenes.
Most people never think about it until they really stop and look. Once you do, you realize the building materials industry is everywhere. It is stable, growing, full of good people, and filled with long-term career opportunity. There is also something genuinely rewarding about being able to step back and see projects and spaces where products you helped sell became part of the world around you.
THE OPPORTUNITY
We have a genuinely exciting opportunity with one of our clients - one of the most respected employers within the building materials industry, to join a business where people build real, long-term careers. The company is known for investing heavily in its people through structured onboarding, hands-on training, mentorship, and clear career development pathways.
Many of their top sales leaders and managers started in entry-level or inside sales positions before progressing into senior leadership roles across the organization.
They are seeking someone who is driven, personable, team-oriented, and eager to grow, someone who brings energy, curiosity, and initiative to work each day. They want someone that they can invest in - for real! This role is designed as a launching pad into a long-term career in Outside Sales through the company’s established Sales Trainee development program.
This is far more than a traditional Inside Sales role. It is an opportunity to learn the business from the ground up, develop strong commercial and product knowledge, work alongside experienced mentors, and position yourself for a rewarding future with a highly respected industry leader.
This is not cold-calling, 100% business development, a call centre environment, or a door-knocking role.
This is a true relationship-driven sales opportunity within a well-established business where you will learn valuable skills, build meaningful relationships, and create a long-term career foundation.

Specifics of the Role
  • Handle inbound customer calls and quotations
  • Upsell and cross-sell to maximize order value and maximize outbound deliveries
  • Make outbound calls to drive additional business and uncover opportunities
  • Grow existing accounts while identifying new business potential
  • Collaborate with operations, production, and logistics to ensure smooth delivery for customers
  • Resolve customer inquiries and issues quickly and professionally
  • Maintain accurate order entry and customer records
  • Support Outside Sales with account coordination and follow-up
  • Step in where needed — team support is key

What We're Looking For
  • Proactive mentality with a strong desire to contribute, learn, and grow professionally within an employer that encourages and supports ongoing development
  • Goal-oriented, and driven with a deep commitment to customer service
  • Personable with strong relationship-building skills
  • Confident communicator, comfortable on the phone
  • Detail-oriented with strong follow-through
  • Organized and able to manage multiple priorities
  • Team-first attitude with a willingness to jump in when required
  • Eager to learn and grow into an Outside Sales role over time
  • Team sports or competitive background is an asset
  • Those coming from high-touch customer service industries are encouraged to apply - hospitality, retail, customer service, call center, etc.
  • Post-secondary education is an asset, but is not strictly required

Why Join
