Position Title: Nurse Instructor – Pre-Nursing Programs
Reports To: CTE Director / School System Administration
Work Location: TCAT Campus / Local School System Partnership
Position Summary:
The Nurse Instructor provides classroom and clinical instruction in Pre-nursing courses for high school students enrolled through the local school system at TCAT. This position prepares students with the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary for entry-level healthcare careers and further nursing education. The instructor ensures compliance with state, federal, and accreditation standards while fostering a supportive learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide instruction in CNA curriculum and pre-nursing courses aligned with Tennessee Department of Education, TCAT, and state board of nursing standards.
- Develop lesson plans, instructional materials, and assessments to support student success.
- Supervise students in classroom, lab, and clinical settings; provide feedback to promote skill mastery.
- Ensure compliance with state regulations for CNA training programs, including required clinical hours.
- Prepare students for CNA certification exams and entry into nursing pathways.
- Maintain accurate student records, attendance, grades, and clinical documentation.
- Collaborate with TCAT staff, local school system personnel, and clinical partners to support program goals.
- Participate in advisory committee meetings, professional development, and program evaluations.
- Uphold safety, ethical standards, and confidentiality in all instructional and clinical environments.
Qualifications:
- Current, unencumbered license as a Registered Nurse (RN) in Tennessee.
