Job description

Department: Executive Leadership / Operations

Reports To: Chief Executive Officer

Schedule: Approximately 25-29 hours per week (flexible based on school schedule if applicable)

Position Summary

M&M Recycling is seeking a highly motivated, analytical, and curious Operations & Business Analytics Associate to support strategic projects across the company. This entry-level position is ideal for a recent college graduate or upper-level undergraduate student studying business analytics, operations management, supply chain management, industrial engineering, business administration, finance, economics, or a related field.

The Associate will work directly with company leadership to analyze business performance, improve operational processes, organize data, develop reports, and assist with special projects that improve efficiency across purchasing, transportation, processing, sales, customer service, and administration.

This role offers hands-on exposure to nearly every aspect of operating a growing industrial business while developing practical experience in business analytics, process improvement, and operations strategy.

Primary Responsibilities

Business Analytics

  • Collect, organize, and analyze operational data from multiple departments.
  • Build and maintain Excel spreadsheets, reports, and dashboards.
  • Assist with tracking key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Identify trends, inefficiencies, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly executive reports.

Process Improvement

  • Observe and document workflows throughout the company.
  • Help create and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Assist with mapping business processes and identifying opportunities to simplify or improve them.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.

Operations Support

  • Conduct research on best practices within the recycling, transportation, manufacturing, and logistics industries.
  • Assist with special projects assigned by executive leadership.
  • Support purchasing, transportation, and operations teams with data analysis.
  • Help organize operational documentation and reporting.

Technology & Reporting

  • Learn company software systems, including ERP, scale software, dispatch systems, and Microsoft 365 applications.
  • Assist with creating automated reports and dashboards.
  • Help maintain accurate business records and databases.
  • Support implementation of new technology and reporting tools.
